Mamelodi Sundowns’s biggest payday is around the corner with FIFA confirming the prize money for the Club World Cup set for June.
The United States will host the tournament from June 14 to July 13, with 32 teams battling it out for honours, including Sundowns.
FIFA has now revealed the prize money for all participants, but it differs from continent to continent.
For African teams Sundowns, Al Ahly (Egypt), Wydad Casablanca (Morocco), and Espérance (Tunisia), they’ve each been allocated $9.55 million (R173 million) in today’s exchange rate, as a participation fee in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.
The winner of the tournament will take home $40m (R729 million).
A total of $1 billion will be shared among the 32 participating clubs, and as per reports, an additional $250 million is set aside to support club football worldwide.
The Tshwane club has been placed in Group F, alongside Fluminense (Brazil), Borussia Dortmund (Germany), and Ulsan (South Korea).
Depending on how far they go in the tournament, Sundowns will earn more money.
