As expected, Eric Tinkler is the new Head Coach of Sekhukhune United.

The former Bafana Bafana midfielder takes over from Lehlohonolo Seema, who was sacked last week.

Tinkler’s appointment comes as no surprise as his name had been mentioned before Seema was shown the door.

Formerly with Cape Town City, Tinkler was only unemployed for a little over two months, following his departure from the Citizens. His tenure starts on Wednesday, with a trip to Bloemfontein to face Marumo Gallants.

“Sekhukhune United is pleased to announce the appointment of Eric Tinkler as Head Coach. He’ll immediately take the reins and lead the team,” confirmed the club in a statement.

“Tinkler is an accomplished football coach, with over 30 years of experience in the game. He holds UEFA and CAF A Licences with numerous other prestigious coaching badges.”

He’ll be assisted by Paulus Masehe and Marc van Heerden, as well as Nascent Nkhwashu, who’s the goalkeeper coach.

Sekhukhune United are fourth on the PSL standings with ten matches to go.
