Ambassador of Russia to Ethiopia, Evgeny Terekhin, has voiced confidence in Ethiopia’s potential to make substantial contributions to the BRICS group. In a recent interview with ENA, a partner of TV BRICS, Evgeny Terekhin emphasised that Ethiopia’s active participation will significantly bolster the group’s collective development and mutual growth objectives.

Ethiopia marked a historic milestone as it joined BRICS, represented by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and a high-ranking delegation at the XVI BRICS Summit held in Kazan. This participation underscored Ethiopia’s commitment to contributing to a more balanced global order.

Ambassador Terekhin highlighted Ethiopia’s balanced approach to international issues at the summit, describing BRICS as a robust economic union that unites emerging economies. With one-third of the global economy and almost half of the world’s population within its scope, BRICS is a major player on the world stage, the ambassador emphesised. Terekhin expressed confidence that Ethiopia’s involvement would not only accelerate its own economic development but would also align with BRICS’s shared goals of mutual growth and cooperation.

As BRICS continues to attract attention from over 30 countries seeking membership, its influence in shaping a balanced global economic landscape is undeniable.

Evgeny Terekhin believes that through collaborative efforts in economic development and social issues, BRICS is building strong people-to-people ties and laying the groundwork for a more equitable international system. He also said Ethiopia’s inclusion serves as a pivotal moment for both the country and the group, reinforcing BRICS’s vision of a cooperative, multipolar world.
