Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium has been picked to host this year’s Nedbank Cup final.
In what is expected to be a thrilling final, Kaizer Chiefs will meet archrivals Orlando Pirates on 10 May.
Chiefs edged Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 on Sunday, 13 April, at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria to reach the final. Earlier in the day, Pirates registered a 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants in Orlando, Soweto.
Amakhosi’s trophy cabinet at Naturena has been gathering dust for a decade, and reaching this final serves as a great opportunity to bring home some silverware. The last time Chiefs won a trophy was in the 2014/15 season when they were crowned league champions.
However, the Buccaneers have proved to be no pushovers in cup finals in recent memory. In fact, Pirates will be looking to make it a hattrick of Nedbank Cups by winning it for the third time in a row.
It’s all to play for in Durban, and the 10th of May may not come soon enough.
