Former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Member of Parliament Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has sang South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s praises, saying he is committed to “genuine transformation”.
In a tweet published on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, February 3, Ndlozi stated that Ramaphosa is “not what we have been told he is,” asserting that the president is committed to genuine transformation in South Africa.
“This man is not what we have been told he is. He is truly up to something. Of all SA heads of state, he has come out as the most committed to policies that matter for the most genuine transformation of the living conditions of our people.”
Ndlozi cited recent legislation signed into law by Ramaphosa, including the National Health Insurance (NHI) Act, the Basic Education Laws Amendment (BELA) Act, and the Land Expropriation Act, as evidence of his commitment to transformation.
He urged left-leaning organisations to acknowledge these developments and reconsider their stance on Ramaphosa.
“Not withstanding Marikana, Phala Phala, CR is on a journey less travelled by many in his position. Worse, under GNU conditions! No puppet of white monopoly capitalism speaks and acts like he does! Sela!” Ndlozi stated.
Ndlozi’s tweet has sparked speculation that he may be considering joining the African National Congress (ANC).
Addressing an ANC press conference on January 20th, ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula stated that the party is open to engaging with Ndlozi and would welcome him into its ranks.
“At the end of the day if he decides to be a politician and wants to remain in politics and pursue the agenda of transformation and liberation of our people, we in the ANC are open to it, he can come.” said Mbalula.
Ndlozi resigned as an EFF Member of Parliament following a reported fallout with EFF President Julius Malema ahead of the party’s National Assembly.
The African Times previously reported that Ndlozi had quietly removed the title “EFF MP” from his social media accounts in early December before officially submitting his resignation letter.
