Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has reminded everyone who’s the boss of the national team, and that is him!
The Belgian is preparing Bafana Bafana to face Lesotho in Friday’s FIFA World Cup Qualifier at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo.
Broos, however, has also shared his thoughts on player call-up matters. He’s clearly unhappy that club bosses, coaches, and the media keep telling him who to call for national duty.
“When the player is ready, I’ll call him. If he is from Chippa (United), Polokwane (City), (Mamelodi) Sundowns, or whichever team (I will call them). Secondly, it will only be me who will choose who is in the national team. You can tell what you want 100 times in the newspaper, radio, television, or whatever. If I don’t want to call up a player, I won’t call him,” stated Broos.
“They are here because they deserve it, not because another journalist or chairman wanted them in the national team. No one can tell me who to select; I choose who I want.
“Stop saying those (players) deserve to be in the team or there has to be more players from that club; stop with that. They will be in when they deserve it,” Broos concluded.
The latest club chairman to share his views was TS Galaxy chairman, Tim Sukazi, who mentioned as many as four players that deserve call-ups from his team.
