The provincial secretary of the EFF in KwaZulu-Natal has suspended his longtime personal assistant for allegedly attending the MK Party’s 1st anniversary rally in Durban on Sunday.

Nkululeko Ngubane was in Nasrec attending the EFF’s National People’s Assembly, an elective conference, in Johannesburg when Siphamandla Ngcobo allegedly joined the celebrations of President Jacob Zuma’s party at the Moses Mabhida stadium.

In a December 18 suspension letter sent to Ngcobo and seen by African Times, Ngubane accused his personal assistant of breaching the EFF constitution, disloyalty and ill-discipline.

Ngcobo was allegedly spotted at Moses Mabhida stadium working with a senior MK Party official known as Ntokozo, who also handled elections matters ahead of May 29 general elections.

The African Times sources said that after learning about “the top level act of infiltration”, Ngubane confronted Ngcobo.

Ngcobo allegedly claimed that he went to Moses Mabhida because Ntokozo asked him to bring something for her to the stadium and that’s how he ended up attending the rally.

Ngubane then suspended Ngcobo pending a disciplinary hearing.

“Accordingly, you have breached the EFF Constitution and your contract of employment which prohibits association with other political parties without a mandate from the Central Command Team.

“As the Personal Assistance to the Provincial Secretary, you are expected to be disciplined and loyal to the organisation and the Office of the Provincial Secretary to the best of your ability,” Ngubane instructed Ngcobo in the suspension letter.

“You are therefore, directed to handover the material of the organisation that you were utilising for the purpose of the organisational work to Provincial Office tomorrow, the 19th of December 2024 before 10h00 am. Furthermore, you are hereby suspended with immediate effect. You will be contacted by the Office of the Provincial Secretary regarding the proceedings of your case.”

INFILTRATION: In his letter, Ngubane informed Ngcobo that he was suspended for allegedly associating with the MK Party without a mandate from the EFF’s Central Command Team.

Part of the conditions for Ngcobo’s suspension is that he must neither communicate with EFF staff nor visit any offices of the red berets.

“The conditions of your suspension are that, you must not communicate with any leader or staff member of the organisation, and you must not visit any office of the organisation during the period of your suspension,” Ngubane instructed Ngcobo in the suspension letter.

Repeated attempts to get Ngcobo’s comment failed. He didn’t take calls and failed to respond to written questions.
