Kaizer Chiefs defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe is the latest footballer to make a big-money move to Libyan club, Al-Ittihad.

The North Africans have been in the news lately for their transfer dealings.

In the past week, Al-Ittihad has paid Moroccan club FAR Rabat $500,000 (R10.1 million) for Botswana international Tumisang Orebonye.

Al-Ittihad also activated Mahmoud Kahraba’s $1.2 million (R22 million) release clause to sign him from Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly.

Now they have set their sights on Orebonye’s countryman, Ditlhokwe, who’s reportedly set to boost Chiefs’s coffers by a whopping $850,000 (R15 million).

The transfer window in Libya closes on 17 February, paving the way for Ditlhokwe to move from Chiefs on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

Ditlhokwe’s departure was unexpected considering he had finally won a place in Amakhosi’s starting XI, but also keeping in mind that the Premier Soccer League (PSL) transfer window is closed and Chiefs won’t be able to sign a replacement, unless they get a free agent.

However, the deal appears to have been too good for Chiefs to turn down.
