The seconds annual Thokoza Film Festival will be held in South Africa from 29 October to 2 November. The event will be taking place in Thokoza in the province of Gauteng in the north of the country. TV BRICS is the media partner of the event.
The organisers position the festival as an opportunity for emerging filmmakers to present their work and get their first recognition, exchange experiences and establish contacts in the world of creative industries. A variety of documentary, short and feature films by directors from Africa and other continents are expected to be screened.
The TV BRICS International Media Network will present a special programme with films from Argentina, Brazil, India, China and Russia. In particular, the films “Golden Coast of the Arctic” and “Heilongjiang: Zone of Sustainable Economic Development” by director Andrey Porshnyak, the Indian film “Water” by Diya Mari Shaju and Diya Futan, “Counterattack” by Brazilian Victor Uchoa and the Argentine film “My Brother Joaquin” by Luciano Giardino.
Masterclasses are also planned, during which festival guests and novice filmmakers will be able to improve their skills, get acquainted with the work and methods of experienced professionals.
In turn, film market representatives and subject matter experts will take part in panel discussions to discuss various aspects and stages of film production, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.
Thokoza Film Festival has been held regularly since 2022. According to the organisers, during this time it has become a creative springboard for more than 200 young filmmakers.
