The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed the dates for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The tournament is slated for 21 December 2025 until 18 January 2026.
Morocco will play host and kick off the tournament with a clash against Comoros in the nation’s capital, Rabat.
South Africa’s senior national team, Bafana Bafana, will be looking to go one better in North Africa after finishing third in the previous edition, which was hosted and won by Ivory Coast.
Hugo Broos’s men will be based in Marrakech, the fourth largest city in Morocco.
Bafana Bafana are in Group B with Egypt, Angola, and neighbors Zimbabwe.
CAF has confirmed that Bafana Bafana will kick off their AFCON campaign with a clash against Angola at Grand Stade De Marrakech on 22 December 2025, followed by a match against Egypt four days later at the Grand Stade D’Agadir.
Bafana Bafana will round off their group stage campaign with an encounter against Zimbabwe on 29 December 2025 at the Grand Stade De Marrakech.
“Nine (9) venues will be used across six cities for the continent’s greatest football show… There will be 52 matches over 29 days in a feast of football for fans that showcases the skill and passion of African football,” stated CAF.
The top two teams in each pool will advance to the round of 16, along with the four best third-placed sides.
