Two Limpopo ANC structures – the ANC Veterans League (ANCVL) and the ANC Youth League (ANCYL)  – have joined forces and demanded that loose tongued former MP Boy Mamabolo be sanctioned by the governing party.

Their call comes after Mamabolo insulted and questioned the moral standing of ANC national executive committee (NEC) member Onnica Kwakwa, who is also the Department of Defence spokesperson.

Mamabolo had also celebrated the death of former Limpopo ANCYL chairperson, Mathews Malebana, saying he should “rot in hell” because he was his enemy.

He later deleted his offensive and disparaging remarks from his social media platform, Facebook account.

Mamabolo is a member of the ANC’s ward 13 branch, in the Peter Mokaba region and has been nominated to be a delegate in the upcoming regional conference.

The veterans league labelled Mamabolo’s personal insults as derogatory and said he should be charged for transgressing the party’s rule 25 of the constitution.

“Cde Mamabolo has deliberately trangressed the provisions of Rule 25 of the ANC Constitution and thereby brought the name of the ANC into disrepute. As the oldest liberation movement on the African continent and the undisputed leader of the South African society, the ANC can’t afford to be associated with a person who doesn’t respect the rights and dignity of our fellow human beings and in particular, our women, people living with disabilities and the departed,” the veterans league Provincial Secretary Sechaba Nkoana said.

Nkoana further stressed that it is taboo to talk ill about the departed souls and called upon the ANC to summarily suspend Mamabolo’s membership.

“We therefore call upon the ANC to summarily suspend the ANC membership of Cde Mamabolo and formally press misconduct charges against him in terms of the provisions of Rule 25 of the ANC Constitution,”  he added..

Meanwhile, the provincial ANCYL called Mamabolo’s utterances unethical and un-African. Spokesperson Abis Makola said they will write a formal complaint to the party and request disciplinary actions against the former ANC MP.

“Cde Boy Mamabolo’s utterances are not only unethical and un-African, but they are a violation of the ANC’s Rule 25 from the ANC’s constitution.

“We therefore call on the ANC to take urgent decisive actions against Cde Boy Mamabolo,” the league spokesperson Abia Makola said.

In response to the statements, Mamabolo unleashed his lawyers, Sithi & Thabela attorneys to ward off the leagues’ move. He accused the two structures of trying to interfere with the party’s disciplinary processes.

“In light of the foregoing, we hereby place your offices on formal notice that any such attempt to influence the ANC Disciplinary Committee through misinformation, public statements, or media campaigns would be improper, unconstitutional, and procedurally irregular, as it would contravene Rule 25 of the ANC Constitution, which prescribes the procedures for disciplinary procedures,” Mamabolo’s lawyer said.

In the court papers that were shared by Mamabolo, he has given the leagues 48 hours to confirm that they will stop influencing the party’s disciplinary processes.

“Written confirmation be provided within 48 hours of receipt of this letter, confirming that no further steps will be taken to unduly influence or interfere with the ANC Disciplinary Committee’s independent decision-making process and that all false or misleading statements regarding our client will be retracted,” Sithi & Thabela added.
