Iran has strengthened its position in the global biotechnology sector by exporting biotech medicines to 17 countries, according to Mostafa Ghanei, Iranian Secretary of the Biotechnology Development Headquarters in the Vice Presidency of Science and Technology. This is reported by Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
Ghanei revealed that the value of Iran’s biotech drug exports has surpassed US$200 million, marking a milestone for the country’s pharmaceutical industry. He emphasised that efforts are underway to localise the production of high-value medicines, including insulin and plasma-derived therapies, within the next two years.
According to the experts, Iran’s growing biotech industry reflects the country’s commitment to innovation and self-sufficiency in pharmaceutical production, positioning it as a key player in the international biotech market.
