Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have been pitted against North African clubs in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League.

The draw was conducted in Doha, Qatar, on Thursday afternoon.

Pirates, who won this competition in 1995, have been drawn against Algerian side, MC Alger, and the tie will be played over two legs with Pirates set to start away and look to finish the job at home in the second leg.

If Pirates make it to the semis, they’ll take on Pyramids (Egypt) or FAR Rabat (Morocco).

Meanwhile, Sundowns—the 2016 champions—will face Tunisian outfit Espérance, who are four-time winners of Africa’s premier club competition.

Sundowns and Espérance are familiar foes, considering Espérance knocked out the Tshwane club in the semi-finals last season.

Should Sundowns make it to the semis, they’ll face either Al Ahly (Egypt) or Al Hilal (Sudan).

In the Confederation Cup, Cape side Stellenbosch FC has been drawn against the defending champions Zamalek.

If Stellenbosch FC progresses to the semi-finals, Steve Barker’s charges will face the winner between Egyptian club Al-Masry or Tanzanian club Simba.
