In light of Solly Krok’s passing, Mamelodi Sundowns have paid tribute to their former owner.
Solly Krok, who was 95, passed away this week due to natural causes.
His twin brother, Abe, succumbed to an illness back in 2013.
The Krok brothers, together with the Tsichlas family, were owners of the reigning PSL champions before billionaire Patrice Motsepe bought the club in 2004.
“The Chairman and the Motsepe Family, the Board of Directors, Technical Team, Players, Management, Staff, Supporters of Mamelodi Sundowns FC & the entire Yellow Nation express their deepest condolences to the family and friends as we mourn the loss of former Mamelodi Sundowns owner Solly Krok,” read the club’s statement.
“We pray that the Almighty God comforts and strengthens his family, friends, business associates, and everyone that knew him. Solly and the Krok family played a pivotal role in the growth of Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club and contributed immensely to the South African business community.
“The legacy, life, and memory of the beloved Solly Krok will be carried on by his family and the many lives he touched through his passion for the beautiful game. May the soul of Solly Krok rest in peace.”
