1,296 Families Receive New Housing Under Brazilian My Home, My Life programme

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva handed over the keys to new homes to residents of Fortaleza, the capital of the state of Ceara in the north-east of the country, as part of the “My Home, My Life” programme. This is reported by Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.

The new homes were given to 1,296 families in the country. Launched by the Brazilian government in 2009, the “My Home, My Life” programme provides affordable housing for low and middle income families.

The programme is one of the main pillars of Brazil’s housing policy and aims to reduce the housing deficit and improve the living conditions of the population.

Earlier, the government allocated 11,6 billion Brazilian reals (US$2,28 billion) for the construction of 112,500 houses in rural areas and municipalities under the programme.
